Fall Matte Eyeshadow Look #1
We have a great Fall eyeshadow look tutorial for you featuring our New Mattes eyeshadows! As you are probably already aware, Red Apple Lipstick released The New Mattes eyeshadows earlier this year, consisting of 9 brand new neutral shades of eyeshadows in an all-matte formula. These neutral shades work great for any season and any occasion, but are perfect for Fall eye makeup looks since neutrals shades are very popular in the Fall time.
These gorgeous eyeshadows are super pigmented and buildable, giving you the ability to intensify their depth and richness to where you desire, perfect for those rich and deep Fall eye looks. Plus, their silky-smooth texture makes them very easy to work with because they are so easy to blend. The best part is that they are available all together in a palette, or you can purchase the eyeshadows separately.
For this look, we will be using the peachy, brown, and taupe matte eyeshadow shades for a warmer toned eye look. We will feature the more mauve and plum shades in another look, so stay tuned for that one!

We are starting with eye makeup first, but feel free to start with face makeup if that’s what you usually like to do.
Step 1- Prime the Lids
Start by prepping the lids with the Prime Time Eye Shadow Primer. Apply a tiny amount all over the lids, up to the brow bone. Let that dry for a couple of minutes. Once the primer has dried, you can set it with a bit of setting powder if you would like. This will help eyeshadows blend even more smoothly.
Step 2- Base Color
Now apply a base color on the lids. Using the Wet/Dry Eye Brush, or a similar brush, apply Heirloom eyeshadow all over the lid, taking it up to the brow bone.
Step 3- Transition Shade
Next, take the Crease and Blend Brush, or a brush similar to it, and apply Blondeshell eyeshadow onto the transition area (the area just above the crease and just below the brow bone). Blend that out well using windshield-wiping motions.
Step 4- Lid Shade
Take the Wet/Dry Eye Brush and apply Earth Girl eyeshadow all over the lids and into the crease. Switch over to the Crease and Blend Brush to blend that into the crease area (the folded area above the eyelid) using windshield-wiping motions.
Step 5- Outer Corner and Crease
Using again the Crease and Blend Brush, apply Tip Taupe eyeshadow on the outer corner of the lids. With both circular and windshield-wiping motions, blend that out taking it into the crease. If needed, take a bit of the Blondeshell eyeshadow to blend out and soften the edges.
Step 6- Inner Eye Corners & Brow Bone
Add some softness to the eyes by applying Hush Hush eyeshadow on the brow bone and the inner corner of the eyes, on the tear ducts.
Step 7- Bottom Lash Line/Lid
To give the eyes a more complete look, apply both Blondeshell and Earth Girl eyeshadows across the bottom lash line. Blend them together with the Crease and Blend Brush, using windshield-wiping motions all the way across.
Step 8- Mascara
Complete the eyes by applying The Lash Project Mascara. Apply 3 to 4 coats for a beautiful, slightly dramatic, lash look. For a more natural lash look, you can apply up to two coats instead.
Face Makeup
On the face, for this look, Sundrop Bronzer was used to add some warmth to the complexion. Using the Vegan Blush Brush, it was applied lightly to the forehead (towards the hairline), on the temples, and on the cheeks. You can also add some definition to the face by placing it on the hollows of the cheeks, on the sides of the nose, and on the jawline. For blush, Coy blush was used, a matte apricot pink shade that helps bring out the rosiness in your cheeks and enrich any natural golden undertones. Gotta Glow blush would also be a good option for this look. To finish the whole look, Naughty lipstick was applied to the lips. Chai Love You and Spice ‘N Easy lipsticks are also great lip color options that will coordinate well with this eye look.
Lipstick Choice
I chose to pair this look with lipstick shade Naughty. This top selling shade is SO versatile!

Frequently Asked Questions:
- What does matte eyeshadow do?
Matte eyeshadows do not contain any kind of shimmer or glitter. These shadows do not change in appearance like shimmer and glitter eyeshadows do when under the light. Because of this, lighter matte eyeshadows are great to use as base shades, and deeper eyeshadow colors are great for adding and building depth to an eye look especially when applied in the crease. They can be used the same way as any other formula of eyeshadows, but when you just want a shimmer/glitter-free option.
- Should I wear matte or shimmer eyeshadow?
This all depends on the effect you are going for. Shimmer eyeshadows are great for bringing attention to the eye, especially great when applied to the lids. Mattes, on the other hand, are perfect to add definition to the eyes and also for adding shadows. You can also do a combination of both when you want a look that both defines and brings attention to the eyes.
- Is matte eyeshadow better for older eyes?
In most cases, yes. Shimmer and glitter formulas of eyeshadows will often bring attention, or accentuate, any wrinkles as they will often settle in fine lines that may be present. So matte eyeshadows are the best choice for older eyes as they tend to do just the opposite.
