Simple Spring Eye Makeup

Spring Makeup: Simple and Soft Eye Makeup (with a Pop of Color)

Before we start on this simply spring eye makeup look be sure your skin is prepped. You'll have already done your skincare routine and allowed your moisturizer to fully soak into the skin.

Consider your skin type when choosing a foundation or other base. I like minimal makeup to achieve a more natural and glowy complexion look, one of the very popular makeup trends for spring makeup. Either a lightweight foundation such as a serum or skin tint would be perfect.

Tinted moisturizers, BB Creams, and CC Creams are also perfect choices. For this tutorial, I used a BB Cream (Purito's Cica Clearing BB Cream). You can also lightly powder any oily areas of the face to prevent getting too oily during the day while still maintaining a beautiful and natural glow.

Keep your application light for a minimal and natural makeup look. If there are any areas that you feel need a little more coverage, apply just a bit of concealer to those areas instead of applying more foundation/base product.

We are now ready to get started on eye makeup.

*Note on Brows: Natural, fluffy brows are the goal. Lightly fill them in if you must but keep them looking as natural as possible. You can do so either before your eye makeup or after. My brows are naturally full, so I usually don't fill them in.

Simple Spring Eye Makeup Tutorial

We are keeping the eyes nicely soft and simple by using neutral eyeshadow on the eyelids. Instead of using the typical black eyeliner/black liner, we will be using a slightly bold, colored liner to add a pop of color to the look.

Don't worry, it's nothing too bold or overly bright. It will be just enough to make the eyes pop more subtly.

Step One: Prime the Eyes

Let's start by priming the lids with Prime Time Eye Shadow Primer. Apply a tiny amount all over the lid, going up to the brow bone. Let that dry for a couple of minutes.

I like to set it with a bit of setting powder after it has dried but this step is completely optional. I just like to do so because I find that it helps eyeshadows blend even more smoothly.

Step Two: Apply a Base Shade

Apply a base color to the lids. Your base color should be an eyeshadow that is close to your skin tone. I like to use Porcelain eyeshadow but if that is way too light for you, chose another eyeshadow that works best for you.

Using a brush like the Wet/Dry Eye Brush, apply your base all over the lid, from inner corners to outer corners and up to the brow bone.

Step Three: Apply Your Lid Color

Take the Vegan Wet/DryΒ Eye Brush again and apply Blondeshell eyeshadow on the lid, taking it into the crease area (the folded area above the eyelid where a literal crease forms).

Switch to the Vegan Crease and Blend Brush, or a brush similar to it, swipe the color back and forth throughout the entire crease, from the inner corner to the outer corner.

Step Four: Blending Shade

Now, using the same blending brush, smooth out the edges by blending with Heirloom eyeshadow. Place Heirloom eyeshadow in the crease and use windshield wiping motions to blend out the edges. Blend across the crease and take it just above, onto the transition area.Β Β

*You can also highlight the eyes by applying a subtle highlighter to the inner corner and brow bone if you want to do so. Buttercream and Champagne eyeshadow are perfect highlighting shadows.

Step Five: Apply Your Eyeliner

Add some color by applying eyeliner. Take Eggplant Eye Liner Pencil directly onto the upper lash lines. Next, smooth out the lines using theΒ Vegan Angled Eye BrushΒ and wing the liner out.

Step Six: Bottom Lid/Lower Lash Line

If you want to add more color, you can apply a bit of Eggplant liner to the lower lash line and smudge it out. For a more subtle look, apply a bit of Blondeshell eyeshadow instead and blend it out.

*Alternate Option: If the colored winged eyeliner is a little much for you, simply skip step five and move to step six. Apply Eggplant liner to the bottom lid, along the lash line, and smudge that out. This will still add that touch of color but in an even softer way.

Step Seven: Complete the Eyes with Mascara

Finish the eye look with some mascara. For dramatic lashes, apply 3 to 4 coats of The Lash Project Mascara. If you prefer more natural-looking lashes, apply 1 to 2 coats instead.

Complete the Makeup Look

To complete the whole makeup look, add a touch of sun-kissed warmness to the complexion by applying some Sundrop Bronzer. With a brush such as the Blush Brush, apply to the areas where the sun would naturally hit the face- across the forehead, cheekbones, nose, and chin.

Pink and purple shades, along with coral color shades, of blushes and lip color are popular choices for the warmer weather in Spring. Keeping that in mind, M'Lady Blush is perfect to pair with this look. Apply to the apples of the cheeks, blending upwards towards the temples using the Blush Brush.

For lips, this look will look great with a pink or nude pink shade of lipstick or lip gloss. You can even choose one that has a bit of glitter or shimmer if you want to incorporate some of those spring makeup/beauty trends.

Red Apple Lipstick has a lot of great lip color options, here are a few that will pair perfectly with this look, (depending on what you're in the mood for):

There you have your simple, yet lightly colorful, spring makeup look that also incorporates some of those makeup trends for spring. Will you be trying and wearing this look? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

How to do eye makeup over 40?

Always prime the eyes. Keep shimmery eyeshadows just on the lids, use mattes on the rest of the eyes. Highlight the inner corners of the eyes for more youthful and more awake-looking eyes. Don’t skip eyeliner but avoid anything overly dramatic. And don’t forget the brows! Definition is important, the key is to do so in a natural-looking way.

How to do eye makeup over 50?

Make sure to prime the eyes. Apply eyeshadows with eyes opened, looking in a mirror. Avoid eyeshadows that are too dark, opt for lighter to medium shades of neutrals in matte formulas. Instead of liquid, go for either pencil or gel eyeliner for a softer and subtle eyeliner application.

Curl lashes and apply a volumizing mascara to give the eyes a lift and open them up, but don’t apply to the bottom lashes. Apply concealer under the eyes to brighten and conceal any skin sagging or dark circles. And of course, define the brows in a more natural and subtle way.
