Festive Thanksgiving Makeup Ideas

What does Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season mean to you? Besides much needed family time filled with joy and delicious food (because who can resist those mashed potatoes, cranberry desserts and pies?), Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to slow down a little and focus on all the good things you are thankful for.

Also, it is a great occasion to create some festive makeup looks and wear them proudly at the table and for the unforgettable family pictures (yes, cannot skip that part). In the current times of the pandemic, we have spent too many days in sweatpants with no makeup on (whoever is without sin, let them first cast lipstick on us) so this Thanksgiving will be a great time to get all dressed up & wear makeup again.

Check these ideas inspired by the Thanksgiving menu favorites and choose your look.

Thanksgiving Makeup Idea # 1 - Cranberry Sauce

Isn’t cranberry color simply gorgeous? It will make you look festive without much of an effort. Here are some of the Red Apple Lipstick best shades to achieve a cranberry lip look for this year’s Thanksgiving party.

Risque: warm-toned red is bright and beautiful but can be worn bold with more than one coat. It has orange undertones in it vs. blue undertones (like Red Apple Red). If you have warm or neutral undertones, and don’t want a red that turns pink on you – this is the color for you.

Red Apple Red is a robust classic signature red lipstick. This glamorous bright red color has a soft pink undertone and a creamy moisturizing formula. Wear it bold for an alluring, attention-grabbing red lip or apply it softer for a subtle pinky-red stain.

Reddish Fetish is a deep pinky-red with a slight brown undertone. Making this lipstick a neutral red that leans slightly more cool-toned than its warmer sister lipstick, Barcelona. This color has no shimmer or frost.

Rebel! is a deep luscious blue-based red that is slightly darker than our signature Red! It is free of shimmer but full of shine.

Berrycuda - a deep burgundy raspberry wine colored lipstick. It will work great on its own or layered with other red toned lipstick.

The best thing about these lipsticks is that you can mix & match them as you like since they blend very well together on the lips. Create your perfect, unique shade.

Thanksgiving Makeup Look # 2 - Golden Pie Crust (gluten free of course :)

Try creating a similar color eyeshadow look! Use some of RAL best warm and neutral beige eyeshadows like Hush Hush or Heirloom as the base and follow with Lucky Penny (medium yellow copper with a stunning metallic finish), Golden Ticket (beautiful shimmering gold that looks gorgeous) or Bronze Bombshell (medium bronze eyeshadow with a golden sheen) on the outer corner. These shades will make your eyes look beautiful and will complement your eye color - gold makeup works with all eye colors.

Thanksgiving Makeup Idea # 3 - Red Wine

Bolder lips are one of my favorite looks which are very easy to create.

All you need is a lipstick, lip pencil and optionally a concealer to correct lip shape. Accented lips will give you an autumn vibe immediately.

Depending on how bold you want to go, I would recommend trying some darker RAL shades.

Fierce - a deep Bordeaux red lipstick with rich purple and chocolatey undertones. Apply lightly for a beautiful reddish maroon lip stain or build up for a bolder lip look.

Wine & Dandy: Another great pick for Thanksgiving makeup look: If you prefer a simple wine stain, apply with our lip brush, then blot – it will leave you with a beautiful and light berry stain.

In comparison to Fierce, Wine & Dandy has less brown and more purple and can be toned down a bit more. Great option for the majority of skin tones.

Thanksgiving Makeup Idea # 4 - Cocktails

What would be Thanksgiving without delicious, warming cocktails? I rather not imagine. That being said, cognac sparklers or bourbon spice pear cocktail inspired eye look is something you should go for this year.

Use She’s Spicy - cognac, matte eyeshadow, Earth girl - beautiful carmel matte shade and add some golden sheen with Bronze Bombshell. These three shades are perfect fall shades. You can finish this look with a warm or neutral lipstick.

I recommend Magic Momint if you like lip glosses or nude pink like Oh My Guava. If you prefer even warmer undertones, choose Chai love you - a sophisticated nude lipstick with a reddish brown undertone. You cannot go wrong with those classy colors, especially on Thanksgiving evening.

Thanksgiving Makeup Idea # 5 - Chocolate Mousse

Smokey eyes for Thanksgiving? Why not! I actually prefer to focus on eye makeup if I am planning to eat a lot… no need to worry about reapplying lip gloss or lipstick over and over!

For this look I would recommend some matte neutral browns like: Brownie Points, Tip Taupe (greyish brown, matte eyeshadow). You can finish with a light eyeshadow on your brow bone for a defined, clean look.

Use Porcelain if you like to keep everything matte, or Sand Castle for slight gold shimmer. Cocoa eyeliner will finish your look perfectly.

Thanksgiving Makeup Idea # 6 - Green Bean Casserole

Green eye makeup will definitely make you look original and fancy on Thanksgiving night.

Try using Dark green eyeshadow in Olive this Color as ‘one all done’ look - apply all over your lid and blend more in your crease for the fading effect.

You can mix it with Sage Rage - matte, medium, muted, earthy, khaki green or apply the lighter first and then darker, focusing on the outer corner only - if you are going for a more foxy style. Either way, this is one of my favorite, festive looks.
