Lipstick Frustrations to Sensations - Bonus 2

Lipstick Frustration to Lipstick Sensation - Bonus Day #2 (With Jay Harper)

 ABOUT LIPSTICK BUDGETS

funpurchase

Just today, I received an email from a lady who seemed a little irritated at my suggestion that lipstick is more like an accessory than anything else.

In other words, lipsticks fall into the category of your scarves, shoes, handbags, tops, bangles and rings. She made the comparison that because lipsticks have an expiration date, they are unlike other accessories.

Of course, you and I both know that some pairs of shoes, also have an expiration date, so do some purses, and some tops. Everything either grows old, or tired (or both).

THIS IS LIFE RIGHT?

So let’s spend a second… and put some perspective to it.

I won’t lie …. some girls freak right out at the idea of spending $23+ dollars on a lipstick, despite all other beneficial factors. Understandable.

You’ve been trained by big cosmo, and drug store aisles. But the negative side effects of poorly made makeup …. you already know… I don’t even have to tell you.

Just like anything else, you should consider a budget for your lipstick. It’s probably something you’ve never thought about, but let’s just “consider it”, for the sake of having fun. Absolutely, lipstick goes bad. 12 months tops, maybe 16 months if you do some extra special stuff.

Lipstick is made with at least some organic materials… and they will break down over time. For the sake of argument, let’s suppose that you replace your lipsticks once per year. And every year, you invest in 5 quality lipsticks. Every 12 months, you buy yourself 5 new lipsticks to play with. Which you can do a LOT with when you consider blending colors.

For some, 5 might be too many. For others, they are thinking “Are you crazy, I want 15!” And that’s ok. For others, it might be two a year. But let’s stick to 5. 5 at full price of $23.50 each = $117.50

Of course you know we have a “buy 4 get 1 free” + your monthly VIP coupon, which makes it more like $84.60.

$84.60 / 12 months = $7.05 per month.

$84.60 / 365 days = $0.23 per day.

So I ask you… is less than a quarter per day worth having the ability to play, and experiment, and have fun and joy, and live some life?

I don’t know about you, but I spend more than that in our gluten free snack machine every day. Is this a sales pitch for Red Apple Lipstick? Sure it is, but honestly, when I put it to you in this perspective… does it make a little better sense?

I personally think a girl can do a LOT with 3 lipsticks.

3 lipsticks can be blended in dozens of different ways, and differing intensity levels. Don’t let money stop you from having fresh, clean lipstick.
